KIWANIS FOUNDATIONS

When service clubs are chartered, they are not automatically formed as a 501(c)3 charity. There are various foundations, which are 501(c)3 charities, that our club is associated with or have access to for donation/charity purposes.

CSH KIWANIS FOUNDATION

This is our club’s own 501(c)3 foundation. It is completely separate from our administrative funds. When we have a fundraiser, this is where the money goes and our contributions to organizations come from this fund.

GATEWAY REGIONAL FOUNDATION

This 501(c)3 belongs to Region 4 of MO ARK Kiwanis. It is for the use of any Kiwanis club in Region 4, which does not have their own 501(c)3 foundation. The Region 4 Trustee and the Division 6, 7, 8 and 9 Lt. Governors oversee the foundation.

EARL COLLINS FOUNDATION

The Earl Collins Foundation was originally established as the Earl Collins Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1960. It has evolved over the years to the Earl Collins Foundation and benefits the MO ARK district. The Earl Collins Foundation awards a one-time $1,500 college scholarship to two high school senior in each Division. The foundation also supports Sponsored Leadership Programs (Circle K, AKtion, Key, Builder’s and K-Kids Clubs), Key Leader Program and the Beatrice Johnson Youth Camp in Arkansas.

Earl Collins Foundation is funded in several ways.

  1. Direct donations from individuals
  2. Each club has a suggested giving amount per member per year
  3. The Earl Collins Baseball Raffle
  4. A silent auction at different district events
  5. The Zimmerman Society Fellow in which a club or individual donates $1000 in either one year or $250 over 4 years. The recipient receives a plaque and a medallion on a black and gold ribbon. Arnold Zimmerman was a long-time member of our club and a past MO-ARK Governor and a huge Mizzou fan!
  6. The Les Mace Award in which a club donates $150 in the name of a person (they do not need to be a Kiwanis Member). The recipient receives a plaque. The club can designate how they want the donation used (SLPs, Youth Camp, Scholarships or Key Leader). Les Mace is a past MO ARK Governor and is still very active in Kiwanis.

KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FUND

This is 501(c)3 is a part of Kiwanis International. It has five major areas or causes it supports.

  1. Service Leadership Grants for Circle K, Key and Builder’s Clubs to do worthwhile projects.
  2. Club Grant’s to help fund a Kiwanis Club led community project
  3. Disaster Relief and COVID 19 Relief grants to help those in a club’s community affected by disaster.
  4. Eliminate Program, in conjunction with the UNICEF, we are eradicating MNT (Maternal Neonatal Tetanus) in underprivileged countries.
  5. IDD (Iodine Deficiency Disease) – also in conjunction with UNICEF, we have helped to eliminate the leading cause of mental deficiency in underprivileged countries, because of Iodine Deficiency
Clubs or individuals can donate $1000 to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund and designate a member to be a George Hixson Fellow, they receive a plaque and a medallion. If a club or individual donates $1250 to The Eliminate Program in the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund, they can designate a member to be a Walter Zeller Fellow, they will receive a plaque and a medallion.
